Writing Workshops

New Literary Project leads creative writing workshops at high schools and afterschool programs throughout the Bay Area. Ninety percent of students come from underserved communities. These workshops are taught by Simpson Fellows, who are creative writing teachers from The UC Berkeley, English Department, and Iris Starn Fellows, who are MFA candidates from St. Mary’s College. Currently, in Spring 2023, the Simpson and Starn Fellows are leading seven writing workshops at Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall, Girls Inc. of Alameda County (2), Northgate High School, Emery High (2), and CalPrep, a charter school in Richmond, California, affiliated with UC Berkeley.
